One of the most essential elements of a woman's outfit is the bra as it provides support and enhances her overall appearance. However, proper care of underwear is often neglected. It is important to wash and store your underwear properly to ensure that it keeps its shape and quality for as long as possible. If you don't pay attention to washing, your bra may fade, discolor, or change shape. Here are some tips and tricks to make your underwear last longer and look new even after many washes.

The bra is a delicate item and should be washed with extra care. The preferred method is to wash it by hand with a gentle detergent. However, if you don't have time and prefer to use a washing machine, it is recommended to put the bra in a special underwear bag and wash it on a gentle, cool water cycle. There is no specific time when you should wash your underwear, as this can be affected by several factors. In cooler weather, it is recommended to wash bras after 3-5 uses, but on a hot summer day or during intense activity, it is necessary to wash them more often. The frequency of washing can also be influenced by the type of skin - for example, if you have oily skin, you should wash your underwear more often.

If you choose to wash your underwear by hand

Fill a sink, bathtub, or large container with cool water. Add detergent and submerge the bra completely. For best results and easier washing, leave the bra in the water for at least 15-20 minutes. Once the bra has soaked in the water for the specified time, it can be rubbed gently with your hands. Later, remove it from the soapy water and rinse with cool water to remove any detergent residue. After rinsing, place the bra in a towel and gently squeeze to remove excess water. It is not necessary to twist the bra or towel too hard, as this can stretch the material. While the fabric is wet, smooth the cups with your hands to prevent them from bulging or creasing. This step is followed by drying. The garment is dried by hanging it in the middle - between the cups. This preserves the shape of the cups and does not stretch the straps. To avoid color fading, it is not advisable to dry your underwear in direct sunlight. Hand washing your underwear is quicker and gentler, but if you don't have time to soak your bras in the rush of everyday life, check out our tips for washing your underwear in the washing machine below.

If you choose to wash your underwear in the washing machine

Regardless of the quality and capacity of your washing machine, this type of washing will wear out your underwear more quickly. Here are a few tips to help protect your underwear from losing its shape and color. It is recommended to wash the bra in a small wash cycle, as the quality of the wash will be better if the garment can move freely in the wash.

Make sure the bra is fastened before washing to avoid damaging the fabric or other garments. To protect your bra during washing, it is best to place it in a laundry bag. These special laundry bags can be bought at various home and household goods stores. Set the machine to a gentle wash cycle and make sure the temperature is no higher than 30°C. At the end of the wash cycle, smooth the foam cups and other padded parts by hand. This will prevent them from creasing or changing shape. The drying process is the same as in hand washing - hang the bra in the middle, between the cups.
